“There is no health without mental health”

Dr Brock Chisholm, the first Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), was a psychiatrist and shepherded the notion that mental and physical health were intimately linked. He famously stated that “without mental health there can be no true physical health”.

Mental health is an area of health that is important to us all. It is crucial to our ability to lead a fulfilling life.

Our Reachout Challenge is Mental Health Awareness Training, provided by people with a mental illness, and the training will:

  • Increase your understanding of mental health issues
  • Help you to understand what life is like living with a mental illness
  • Enable appropriate earlier intervention for your staff
  • Make you more effective in your vital role

“Health is a state of complete physical mental and social well-being and is not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Health is a resource for everyday life, not for the object of living. It is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources as well as physical capabilities”  World Health Organisation.
