Job Vacancy Coming Soon: Campaigning Coordinator

Campaigns Coordinator Vacancy
Recruiting from 24th October 2023

Hear Us is pleased to announce we have won funding from Trust For London for three years, to run a Campaigning Project, and we will be employing a new member of staff as a Campaigns Manager.

We wish to build a movement run and led by people with lived experience of mental ill health representing all communities initially in Croydon. This movement will educate, inform and influence for change to improve the lives of some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable in our communities through awareness raising, and campaigning for change in our public services and in the wider community.

News to Follow on the project and the upcoming job vacancy.

Hear Us are an established, Croydon based, mental health service users charity, with our grassroots dating back to 1992. We specialise in reaching out to and supporting vulnerable people who have severe and enduring mental illness.

Hear Us are a 100% mental health service user-run group, and this gives us a greater understanding of the impact of social exclusion on health. We share pathways into social inclusion and empower people towards positive wellbeing, helping our service users to build better self-esteem, self-belief and confidence.

We are an ambitious mental health service charity with passionate staff who want to achieve our strategic goals. We are looking for up three new Trustees, who have a determination to make a difference for our cause, to work alongside our existing board of trustees.

As a new Trustees you will help to expand our knowledge and experiences and enable us to achieve our strategic goals, to help improve Croydon’s clinical mental health services, the treatment and care for people living with mental illness.

Our Trustees provide invaluable guidance, leadership, and skills to support our work and we want to diversify our board. We welcome applications from all suitably experienced people and encourage applications from people who have an individual lived experience of mental illness, and those currently underrepresented on our Board, including people from ethnic minority backgrounds and LGBTQI+ communities.

All applicants are welcome. You may have previous Trustee experience or be considering such a role for the first time. We are open to all skill sets and backgrounds that candidates might bring. Knowledge and experience of finance, fundraising, public affairs, digital strategies, public health, social justice and those with links to corporate business would be of particular interest to us.

As a Trustee you would play a vital role in the work of our dynamic charity providing strong, strategic support, and using your unique skills and experiences to help us achieve our goals.

Trustees have six main duties:
1).  To ensure that their Hear Us is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
2).  To comply with their charity’s governing document and the law
3).  To act in their charity’s best interests
4).  To manage their charity’s resources responsibly
5).  To act with reasonable care and skill
6).  To ensure their charity is accountable
