They work closely with the Croydon Home Treatment Team to support people when they leave hospital and to help maintain their health.
A small number of people are brought to hospital under the Mental Capacity Act and Section 136 of the Mental Health Act. This is a power that police officers can use if someone is in a public place and the police have concerns about them. They have a separate, designated place of safety, a ‘136 Suite’ (Place of Safety), where they can be admitted, assessed and cared for.
