Service name: Befriending Service
Provided by: Imagine
When and where:
9-5, Monday to Friday at
CVA Resource Centre
82 London Road
Croydon
Aim of service:
The service will introduce service users to an individual (a befriender) who can help them reduce their social isolation, expand their social networks, build their self-confidence, and enable them to ‘move on’ with their lives by reducing their dependence on mental health services.
What will be offered:
The service will recruit befrienders with a broad range of skills and interests who could be matched with service users according to their needs and interests.

Service users will receive regular assessment from the service, including assessment of the benefits of continuing in the service

Befrienders will be vetted to ensure they fully support the recovery of service users introduced to them, and will receive training and ongoing support.
[New referrals]: Who is the service for and how to access it?
Service users whose care is co-ordinated through the Care Programme Approach (CPA).

Written referral by Care Co-ordinator or other member if the multi-disciplinary care team.
