Every month the Trustees of Hear Us meet for 2 hours: The agenda is full including going over the Accounts. The Coordinator joins the Trustees and the Administrator takes the minutes. Hear Us 2009/10 Annual Report

A sub-committee of the Hear Us Trustees also meets monthly for 2 hours to consider additional matters.

As a charity we have been able to raise funds for Hear Us. Recently we were delighted to hear from Comic Relief that our bid, for a Linkworker Manager had been successful. This means that he/she will be funded for the next 3 years. We also have a Fundraising Committee that meets monthly: All are welcome!

The Croydon User Council holds meetings with Service Users. Currently Looking at issues and concerns that are being raised with the newly commissioned Social Inclusion Services in Croydon

Our other Mental Health Open Meeting continues to invite guest speakers from Croydon’s Mental Health Services giving service users an opportunity to discuss and debate issues that are important to them

Our newsletter has again come out quarterly and gone from strength to strength.

One of our major activities is the work of staff and volunteers to provide Linkworking on all the mental health sites in the Borough, including the Bethlem Hospital. There is great benefit from the Linkworkers feeding back problem areas to staff and Linkworkers negotiating for improvements.

Numbers have been increasing, as has the demand for Linkworkers’ services. The new Linkworker Manager will take this work forward.

The Trustees continue to ensure that we live up to our charitable status and ensure that our funds are spent wisely, according to our aims and objectives.

The work of Hear Us is carried out by staff: Tim, the Coordinator, Jane the Administrator, Carmen, Andy and Al, the Project Workers, together with the Linkworkers and Trustees – the latter being volunteers.

Thank you to everyone for another year’s hard work.

Ruth Govan

Chair of Hear Us Trustees
