CROYDON POLICE OPEN DAY
Everyone Welcome
Croydon Police Station, 71 Park Lane, CR9 1BP
A fun, family day out, with something for everyone.
giving people in Croydon a chance to get a behind the scenes look into the work of their local & specialist police.
Includes local and specialist police units, with displays and demonstrations
There will also be tours of Croydon’s custody suite
Below is a list of some of the units and attractions that will be there on the day:
• Mounted police and police drugs dogs
• “CO19” firearms unit
• A joint emergency services rescue reconstruction with local Fire Brigade and Ambulance service attending
• Vintage police vehicle fleet & historical artefacts
• Forensics demonstrations and presentations
• Tours of Croydon Custody suite
• Crime prevention advice and information packs
• Safer Neighbourhoods - available to talk about local issues in your area
• Officer safety demonstrations
• “TSG” (Specialist Public Order police units)
• Aerial Support Unit (Police Helicopter)
• You London (uniformed youth organisations including police and army cadets among others)

• 10.00 Chair’s welcome (Mandy Maddock of DisabilityCroydon) and opening remarks about CroyCILL and the purpose of today’s Showcase.

• 10.15 Bernadette Simpson (Department of Health) – what the Government says about user-led organisations.

• 10.30 CroyCILL Partner – the need for CroyCILL.

• 10.45 Open Session – why we need CroyCILL, what can it do for us, how can we play our part.

• 11.15 Break

• 11.40 Recap on CroyCILL’s first year – what has it achieved, some activities it is planning for 2010.

• 12.00 Stephen Hodgkins (Disability Lib) – a membership model for CroyCILL, a discussion to help choose the way forward for CroyCILL’s second year, and the support that Disability Lib can offer user-led organisations.

• 12.30 Open Session – open questions, the way forward.

• 1.00pm Lunch: During lunch, delegates are invited to visit the POP bus on the forecourt of Croydon Park Hotel between 1pm and 2pm. The bus will be used by existing CroyCILL partners six times during 2010 for an “Independence Roadshow” in different locations around the Borough.

• 2.00 Delegates are invited to stay and support the making of a short CroyCILL video which is being produced by a company who works with trainees with learning difficulties.
