Hear Us & The Croydon User Council Open Meeting

Hear Us & the CUC Open MeetingHear Us and the Croydon User Council hold meetings that you can attend for free. We invite professionals from Croydon’s services to exchange views, concerns and issues about the services and the developments of the services.

CROYDON USER COUNCIL MEETINGS (CUC)
Why should you come along………?

To make positive changes in our own lives as Service Users, we need to speak out and have our opinions, ideas and concerns heard. So come along and join other Service Users and together we CAN make a difference

Have your say about:

  • the issues that affect you
  • changes that are happening in your mental health services
  • future ‘Guest Speakers’
  • any grievances you have about the Mental Health System
  • ideas for ‘change’

Get involved in:

  • the design and launch of new projects for Service Users
  • discussions with fellow Service Users on a range of topics that affect us all, daycare, benefits, housing etc
  • voicing your opinions to our ‘Guest Speakers’ and asking questions

Meetings and events are published in our newsletter, website and posters will be posted at resource centers, and drop-ins around the borough about each one a couple of weeks in advance of them taking place.

Winning 2009 Poem

oetry Competition 2009
I Dreamed a Dream

I dreamed a dream of yesteryears
I made them all convene
To armor me in history
When madness intervenes.

I dreamed a dream, so deep a sleep
That nothing could corrupt
Holding tight, with all my might
Lest morning interrupt.

I dreamed an acquiescent dream
The calm before the storm
A transient phase in heady daze
Before the clouds could form.

I dreamed a dream down memory lane
Its verges paved with gold
I’d pay a pretty penny now
To walk those streets of old.

I dreamed a dream of childhood
It was carefree and sublime
What I wouldn’t sacrifice
For a moment of that time.

I dreamed a dream at 10 years old
With naivety to blame
Misunderstood that adulthood
Would carry on the same.

I dreamed that dream a thousand times
For only when I’m sleeping
The hopes and joys, that day destroys
The night holds in safekeeping.

With hindsight I’d have warned that child
The grownup years are tough
The innocence you yearn to shed
Is over soon enough.

Now I dream of decades lost
To darkness and to vice
Of wasted opportunities
That don’t come knocking twice.

But time elapsed is dead and gone
Lamenting won’t redeem
Let bygones rest, await the dawn
Of a bigger, brighter dream.
